Coastal Protection
Sea-level rise necessitates the construction of erosion protection infrastructure along many important coastlines. Traditional methods of coastal protection such as seawalls or hard granite rock armour provide no opportunity for nature. Our products can be used in place of, or in conjunction with these methods to provide effective coastal protection whilst delivering biodiversity net gain.
Bespoke Design
Using a collaborative design process we can use our expertise and the expertise of our partners provide assistance at all stages of design to provide the perfect solution, bespoke to your coastal protection project.
Concept design: We will liaise with you to understand the specific design specifications required for your project. We will then use 3D modelling software to create designs based on these specifications and simulate their tensile strength and resilience to stress.
Tank testing: We will test small scale prototypes, in collaboration with the university of Southampton, using their laboratory tank facilities.
Prototype testing: We will use pilot studies to test full scale prototypes in a representative environment.
Final specification: Based on pilot study results, modifications can be made for the final design.
Eco-Rock Armour
Provides protection from coastal erosion
Provides biodiversity net gain
Unique Greening the Grey® and GeoBlock® technologies
17% carbon reductions compared to conventional rock
Contain up to 90% waste or recycled materials
Can be made to bespoke design specifications
Fully scalable
Eco-Rock Armour is an alternative to conventical quarried rock or concrete rock armour used in coastal defences. These traditional approaches create poor environments which support limited biodiversity. In contrast our Eco-Rock Armour offers effective erosion control measures whilst providing complex habitats that become rapidly colonised with a large diversity of species. Eco-Rock Armour units are easy to install using conventional methods and can be used as stand alone products or as a capping layer in combination with traditional rock armour. Units are fully scalable and can be made to desired size and weight specifications. Enquire now to find out more.
Eco-Canewdon Blocks
Provides protection from coastal erosion
Provides biodiversity net gain
Unique Greening the Grey® and GeoBlock® technologies
17% carbon reductions compared to conventional rock
Contain up to 90% waste or recycled materials
Can be made to bespoke design specifications
Fully scalable
Our Eco-Canewdon Blocks are designed to be used to protect seawall infrastructure, strengthening resilience to storm events. Using traditional blocks creates a habitat poor environment which support limited biodiversity. In contrast Our Eco-Canewdon Blocks provide complex surface textures which facilitate bio-colonisation, creating habitats which support a large diversity of species. Eco-Canewdon Block units can be installed using the same methods as traditional Canewdon blocks with no additional training required. Enquire now to find out more.
Eco-Essex Blocks
Provides protection from coastal erosion
Provides biodiversity net gain
Unique Greening the Grey® and GeoBlock® technologies
17% carbon reductions compared to conventional rock
Contain up to 90% waste or recycled materials
Can be made to bespoke design specifications
Fully scalable

Eco-Essex Block units can be installed using the same methods as traditional Essex Blocks with no additional training required. Therefor these units are a great alternative for seawall repair where Essex blocks are already used. Enquire now to find out more.
Piling Habitat
Provides biodiversity net gain
Unique Greening the Grey® and GeoBlock® technologies
17% carbon reductions compared to conventional rock
Contain up to 90% waste or recycled materials
Can be made to bespoke design specifications
Fully scalable
Our Piling Habitat units are designed to be fitted to vertical concrete walls and sheet piling. These flat walls create habitat poor environments which support limited biodiversity. By applying our piling habitats to these surfaces, complex habitats are created which support a large diversity of species. Our piling habitats use mild steel frames which can be easily bolted or welded in place. Piling habitat units are scalable and can be made to a desired size to fit any size of piling.
